Historic Tax Credits safe for another 5 years

APR 5, 2022 — The state historic tax credit legislation (HB 469) was extended for five years – https://legislativenavigator.ajc.com/#bills/HB/469. The Senate substituted the current language, passed the bill on 4/1, and sent it back to the House, who passed it on 4/4. So now, unless the governor vetos it in the next 40 days, it should become law on 7/1. The legislation continues the $300,000 and $5M cap programs. The $5M cap program has a cap of $25M available for 2022 and then increases to $30M per year until the sunset date of 1/1/28. The historic home tax credit for homeowners is phased out on 1/1/25.
The Preferential Property Tax Assessment Freeze is unaffected by this legislation and continues to be available with no sunset date.
