Cascade Heights Commercial Historic District

Cascade Heights Commercial Historic District

Atlanta, Georgia

The Cascade Heights Commercial Historic District, is a good example of a mid-20th century commercial district National Register of Historic Places nomination that was done in preparation for several rehabilitation tax incentives projects. The district includes 59 buildings constructed from early- to mid-twentieth century. The nomination was accepted by the Georgia National Register Review Board in August 2018.

HISTORY:

Although the oldest commercial buildings date to the 1930s, most of the Cascade Heights Commercial Historic District was built in the late 1940s and 50s. The district is the heart of a much larger suburban residential area composed of many neighborhoods collectively known as Cascade Heights.

OUR ROLE:

Ray, Ellis & LaBrie Consulting surveyed the district, defined the boundaries, and documented the district through photographs, as well as conducting in-depth research on the district and filling out all required forms for the State of Georgia Historic Preservation Division and the National Park Service.
